Normally that happens when your belt are dried out and need to be replaced. My car had the same problem at 22k so I changed them out myself. I don't trust the dealership on everything. Specially when its a simple job like that. You should check the A/C belt or the serpentine belt. You could tighten the serpentine with the alternator and the A/C on with the tension pulley on it.

"serpentine" is a term used when 1 belt controls everything. look under the hood of like a chevy blazer or somethin. that's a serp belt right in the open

i guess he may be using the "serp" term for the altenator belt

when it comes to squeeling belts, i just say replace it. the most you'll pay for 3 new belts at like NAPA would be $45...and that's most. not that expensive

Mine makes a squealing noise when the belts are cold. I changed all the belts and the noise got better but did not go away completely. A little dry lube on the belts fited it (you can also use a crayon the lube the belts as the are mostly wax).

the color of the crayon has to match the color of your car....otherwise your johnson rod will smash into the hyper control arm buffer

j/k tongue.gif

i'm sure the color wouldn't matter.
