You can move the battery to a diaganol without drilling a single hole. It is just a matter of placing it with care over the holes already in the inner fender area and bolting it down. Unfortunatly, it makes replacing the lamps in the headlights a lot harder due the close proximity of the batter to the screw caps on the back of the lights.

This was one of the reasons I went to a smaller drycell battery in place of the original stock one.



I agree with REDZ, you could probably do a one piece tube from the intake to the filter. All you would really need is a single bend where it goes down into the lower fender area.

1. Initially, I wasn't going to take the piping all the way to the TB. The two lower sections of the CAI were originally connected to the factory rubber coupler/elbow. I had a leftover section of piping that I decided to use only once I figured out a way around connecting the two smaller hoses to the intake piping. I know a straight pipe would be better & I'll prolly look into it in the near future.

2. Once I sort the final configuration out I will probably get it all welded together.

^^^ With your catch can setup like that you will have little to NO flow of air through the valve cover. This is because you have routed the pcv valve to the same in as the first hose. The PCV valve connects to the IM because there is pressure that pulls the air through the valve cover from the elbow. In you setup there is NOTHING puling that air through so it just sits. I am sure your valve cover is getting quite hot too.

I already found that out, but thanks UT. That pic was taken when I 1st put it on, but I soon realised the problem and now it's conected only using 2 hoses. It now goes between the pcv and the im and the I put the oem tube back on the other route. The way I had it at 1st caused the engine to pressurise and force oil out the main seal, what a mess. All good now though B)

Col & Ultra,

I'm not as mechanically savvy as you guys & I have a quick question.

My valve-cover venting hose (the small one that was connected to the air intake piping) is just sitting there, not connected to anything & not blocked-off...


Is this OK or is it bad?

I'm hoping to get an oil catch-can soon but until I do, I wanna make sure I'm not killing my engine.


BTW Col, your catch-can looks sweet mate!

Thanks mate, and you prolly should block the hose off so you don't get oil venting out. That hose is meant to flow both ways, into the engine under normal load and back to the intake under high load. I think it is there for if there is to much for the regular hose (with the PCV) to cope with. I don't think it will cause any probs if you block it.

also makes a real nice air leak into the intake.. unmeterd air is a bad thing. I would hook it back up until you get your catchcan.

No, it's the other hose that OzFx is talking about. The hose from the PCV to the IM is still in place Mad. The hose can't be conected to the intake b/c of the way he did his CAI.
