I am thinking of getting the short throw shifter made by sharkracing. It's only 93 bucks. Is it anygood? Does anybody have it? Is it easy to install? can i screw on my stock shift knob on it? Did anybody get lower track times after getting short throw shifters?

I think the old sr shifters you needed to modify the baseplate and stuff.
This might be it.

I think there are other short shifters on the market that may be worth looking into.

Do not get the SharkRacing Shifter

Do not get the SharkRacing Shifter!

Do not get the SharkRacing Shifter!!

If you really want a ShortShifter I would recommend the Rside advanced. With the SR one you have to cut the shifter pan in order to install it. The Rside is very straightforward and doesn't require any cutting. I would also recommend avoiding ordering from SharkRacing at all costs. They have the worst customer service ever (orders have taken over three months, products don't fit right) After saying all of this I have a SharkRacing Short Shifter for the 2001 Tiburon that has never been used. (I didn't know the installation was so bad) If you want it for some reason I will send it to you for the $93 and you won't have to deal with SharkRacing and their horrible service. However, I would not recommend using this shifter. I am trying to return the shifter to SR but due to their customer Service I have not been able to. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Here is the website that shows the installation of the SharkRacing Short Shifter: http://www.speedstate.com/Hyundai_Section/...ort_shift3.html

Just remember though... With a short shifter any tranny problems you already have will be magnified.

plus with a short shifter there is more stress put on the shifter cables. This added stress can cause them to break and to fix something like that is not just $20 down at the dealer. I've decided that I am just going to keep the stock shifter. It is very smooth and I haven't had any problems with it. I don't feel it's worth breaking something just in order to go a little faster

get the b&m shifter. it's great. as for a ss puting more stress on the cables? i don't believe that. the height is shorter and it gets rid of some stupid engineering. but i guess it's up to you. just don't get the sr shifter. i will take for ever to install it. i can install my b&m in 5 mins or less.

I installed my B&M in the parking lot at work. Took about 15 minutes for the first install. Now though I am sure it would take me less than 10.

Same here, the B+M shifter was a breeze to install. No cutting, it is really straight forward.

I have a B&M shifter and I love it, I had a MHP one which is just like the sr one and it broke the tranny cable in half I had to drive the car to the dealership with pillars and I only had 1st 3rd and 5th b/c you pull down to get them into gear. Luckly they fixed it under warranty but after I got it fixed I gave it away.
