Short Ram Question

I have a short ram (I bought my car with it)
I'm thinking to make a heat shielf to prevent hot air getting in filter.
Maybe I can put big pipe to get cold air from outside (for example under the car) to the filter.
Need your opinions.
PS. I don't want to relocate my filter very low, cause roads here are dusty, there are sometimes deep ponds and mud. I don't want to wash my filter every 1,000 or 2,000 miles.

The only problem with running a pipe from under the car is that the filter is shaped so its meant to be on the end of the piping... you can't really run piping into it.
The AEM's filter location is a great compromise between power and cleanliness. It rarely gets dirty... especially if you have fog lights. The under engine cover and the fog lights virtually keep it spotless.

Yeah I agree with Ham. The AEM intake is positioned over the front splash guard. So unless you have water higher than the front fog lights you would be fine.

The only problem you will have with the AEM is that it was designed for American cars with the stock elbow and MAF. You would have to do something custom in its place.

That is true... the AEM does however, start right around where your Short Ram's piping ends now. You may have to cut a little off, but it may fit the way it is... just need a silicone coupler and some all mighty T-clamps.

Using a heat shield while the filter is still inside the engine area is useless, your filter will still soak up heat from the engine. There is a hole under the battery that brings in cool air (you'll have to move the batter to the side to get to it) from the fender weld but, as long as the filter remains in the engine, your still gonna soak up alot of hot air.

I have already filter, maybe it's possible just to bend some pipes to put filter in bumper. Do I need to remove evap canister?

you can make your own CAI, several people have done it. I have a CAI that has a mandrel bent aluminum pipe that goes to an enlarged hole under the battery trey. The filter is then placed in the fender weld and attached to the pipe from underneath. Works great and is protected nicely from the elements.
