Today I noticed a screeching type sound from the engine bay when I turned my wheels hard to the left, pulling out of a parking lot. It was only when they were as far as they would go.

Tonight I was in the driveway, and with the car on, I turned the wheel slightly, and it made it everytime I moved the steering wheel. It stopped when the steering wheel went about 1/4 of the way to one side. It sounds like a belt is loose or something... can somebody give me more insight into what it could be? I just have the 60k mile service completed last week, but I don't think they replaced any belts except Timing Belt

this is easy.. too easy. Check your powersteering pump for low fluid or loose belts..

belts are fine.... fluid is fine... but my alternator is dead :-/ it's only putting out 3amps (or volts, can never remember how it's measured) when it should be 12-15 or somethin..

that does not sound good at all.... that is kinda odd in that turning your wheels really doesnt have anything to do with the alternator...

yeah I know... but the belts are fine :-/ it also happens when I start my car in cold weather, without turning any wheels... it happens only occasionally and never happens after my car has been on for 15 seconds or more. go figure?

maybe it's the cold weather

could have been the bearings in the alternator?

I just replaced my belts, I had a crazy screaching noise too, but my alternator was in good working order.

you can get a rebuilt alternator for pretty cheap

You might want to make sure the belt is tight and the pulleys are ok. I had a pulley on my old car that the bearings went bad in and ended up seizing which caused the belt to melt and snap from friction. Just a thought.

I had this happen to me as well same thing...Turn hard they screetch or when you first start it and its cold. Its the belt...it may seem tight but it is either to tight or to loose, try adjusting the tension on it and see if it helps.
