Rice Performance, Painting Rad. Hoses.
#1
i am going to be painting my radiator hoses today, and i dont really want to re-use the PITA stock clamps if i dont really need to. will regular hose clamps be fine? i just hate how hard the other ones are to get on and off.
the stock clamps that have to be squeezed with pliers are just too much of a pain. i friggin hate em. i am just wondering if anyone has used or uses stock hose clamps instead of these clamps. If so, do they work ok? any problems?
they arent gonna be blue or green, or yellow, or anything ricey.. i am painting them cast iron color, like my valve cover, and resivoirs.
so they should look ok, i think.
any opinions?

Your going to use clamps like those that come stock on the intake? I guess they'll work fine.
Dunno why you find the ones that require pliars annoying, I find them easier lol.

the paint prob wont flake.. i prepped it well, and if it flakes ill find something else to do with it.
i just cant stand how my force you have to clamp with to get em off, id rather just un screw a hose clamp and take em off, or get tbolt clamps, those are easy too.

I went and replaced all of my clamps with Stainless Steel polished T-Bolt clamps.
Even the radiator ones. They look friggin schweet, and much easier to mess with.

Definitely change to normal hose clamps. My dad and I have done it to every car he's owned, and it's sooooo much easier to work with. No worries about having to get a pair of pliars in some crazy position, and it's easy to know when it's tight. I can usually tell if the radiator hoses have been replaced by the clamp that's on it. Most everyone puts on some sort of new clamp when changing them, so it's a good reference point.
Painting is going to add about 1000 hp, right? joke.gif Post up some pics when you're finished!

Normal hose clamps are uglier than sin.
Really.
T Bolt man.
He just ordered 6 of them from Amazon.com
Size is TB163, just search for that.
2.95 each or so.

don't paint them! i painted one of my hoses and they flaked. i also painted my battery tray and it's flaking.
if it works for redz, it probably works but i'd like to see pictures to see if it's really worth the look.
