Default Replacement Radiator Fans

After some digging and searching here is what I came up with.

Stock replacement is Flex-A-lite #112 only comes in black. But is much slimmer than our stock fans.

It also appears as though the 110 or 210 will work, but I will have to measure the dimetions of my fans when I get home to make sure.

If the 110/210 works...those are the ones that come in cool colors! (blue, red, black yellow).

The other advantage to the 110 or 210 is that they come with adjustable Thermostat 180º-240º and a Air Conditioning Relay to kick the fans on when the AC goes on.


The 110 goes for $104.95
The 210 goes for $209.95
the 112 goes for $76.95

The 210 Replaces both, the 110 only replaces one. You would also need two 112's.

When I get home, I will post up the dimentions of the stock fans, and if the 110/210 will work.

For those scratching their heads, wondering why in the world we'd mod out our radiator fans . . .

I beleive this is for the Turbo. Not enough space between the block and the fan.

What did Alpine do as a temporary fix? Shave off some plastic with a drememl?

Flex-a-lite fans are junk, go with Scott Electric Fans. Scott has lot better flow and higher hour life motors.

CyberGreg-

I did put up and updated post with photos and everything, but I do a quick summation here.

I got the Flex-a-Lite 210 in Red. It is the right size, but the install brackets they give you with the kit do not work on the tibby, so you have to fabricate your own. Nothing major is required. Just some straight pieces of metal with a bolt hole do the trick. The 210 is a waste of money. Their "adjustable thermostat" is junk. Get the 220. It is the exact same fan minus the thermostat, and is thusly cheaper.

I wired the AC condenser fan to be on any time the motor is on, and added a switch in the passenger compartment in case I want to shut it off. The right side fan is run off the normal, stock wiring, so it kicks on when the ECU thinks the coolant is too hot.

Random i was thinking of using an OEM Fan to cool my turbo.I dont have A/C in my Tibby and was wondering if this would be good enough for the Alpine kit Thanks!

why dont u have a/c in ur tib? and the stock fan is made out of plastic, u have a turbo sitting inches away spend 200 bux so u dont have melted plastic in ur car

The radiant heat is not THAT bad from the turbo. Also, radiator fans are made of high temp plastic, so they will NOT melt.

If you go turbo, I would put 1 slimline fan in where the normal A/C condensor fan is, and I would wire it up like I did. It runs anytime the key is in the "on" position, unless I shut it off via the switch in the glove compartment. The fan is always sucking air through the radiator, keeping your engine cool, and it is always blowing air across the turbo and turbo manifold, keeping IT cool. It makes a BIG difference.

When both fans were hooked up to the stock sensor swith, they would kick on/off every 2 mintues. Now, with the current setup, the Main fan only kicks on after "spirited" runs or extended idling/slow driving.
