OK, My tib has about 200 000km's on it and I have it off the road for the winter, for maintainance and some work that would require me to have it off the road for longer than i can part with her for. Im already doing a cam and engine mounts and I had plans of doing the timing belt, it is starting to whin a little and it bothers me. Now, i look on K-spec and they have a kit that replaces all of your belts ( I was planning on doing them all) and it also replaces the idler, tensioner and the water pump. Ive heard that the beta waterpumps are pretty bulletproof and i have no reason to expect any trouble from it, but if its going to give me any trouble in the next 50 000km's the most conveinient time for me to replace it is now. But, is my stock water pump with all those km's on it better than K-specs replacement one? Would I be better off avoiding the trouble and sticking with my stock water pump? The K-spec site shows the kit at 200us, has anybody bought this stuff from the dealership? whats it worth? is this one better? should i just get the belts and the tensioner stuff from the dealership and replace it? or should I get the kit and keep the waterpump on the shelf incase mine does go? I plan on keeping the car for a couple of years, and another 200 000kms if I get lucky enough.

I too am planning on keeping my tib until something takes her from me. As for the water pump.. have you kept up on your coolant maintance? Personally, replacing the pump while you have the T belt out is the perfect time. Getting to either the belt or the pump requires removing the t belt cover and that is just a PITA. I was going to do mine at 70,000 miles.. but advance Auto sold me the wrong pump. It was a chrysler pump in a box for the tiburon.. so the original is still in there as we type.

Personally, it falls under preventive maintance.. and pumps always seem to go at the absolutely worst times.

^^^What Mad Said

And I think the KSpec water pump, tentioner, belts,...etc ARE OEM

You can double check with David@KSpec but they look very stock.

And $200 Shipped is a good deal for all that, you're local dealership will charge MUCH more, call and check if you don't believe me

what i recomend most of the time. .
1st timing belt change... only change the belt and check seals, idler& waterpump
2nd timing belt change...t-belt,waterpump,check seals if dried out and check idler for grease and bearing condition

but since you're there it's not much longuer to change everything and be oon the safe side

My waterpump just failed recently, with 76,000 miles on it. So yeah, I would advise you to change it.
