Ok guys i finally got my pressure plate to accept the throwout bearing, but i thought it hadnt connected like the other 800 times it didnt so i tore off the tranny to find out that it had snapped in perfectly *dammit!!!*, so obviously i need to remove it to put the tranny back in
I thought i remember seeing that somebody had a friend that had successfully done it for their car.
I have some snap ring plyers that i got at pepboys but they just arent getting the job done because the tips fall off the snap ring when i try to put pressure on it.
I tried all the local shops and none of them have done one or know where to start to get it off. tried a couple speed shops and they gave it a shot but couldnt get it.
Any body know any tips to do it or maybe someone who i can send it out to to get it done?

When you use the snap ring plyers, make sure you place the tip underneath the wave washer. This will keep the plyers from slipping off the snap ring. I did this by clamping the pressure plate down, opened the snap ring, and had a friend lightly pry the bearing off. It is not easy by any means. The wave washer will bend slightly, but that won't affect the operation of the clutch. I took all of this from the service manual for our cars. By the way, have patience! It is a real pain. Good luck.
EDIT: I forgot one thing. When opening the snap ring with the plyers, make sure you press the bearing into the plate. This will keep the space for the ring very small so that the plyers do not slip. Once the ring is completely open, lightly pry the bearing out.

I drove 200 miles and got viper's friend nick to do it. He owns a shop and had done it before, he also taught me to do it in case i needed to take it off again.
The way he did it was to jam a big ass flathead in between the pp and TOB and then use a screw driver to tap the snap ring open, the pressure from the screwdriver will keep any progress you make in the snap ring. When the snap ring wont get any more open you put the pp in a vise and place a socket on the inside of the pp on the TOB and tap the socket with a hammer. took 5-10 minutes, 1/12 of the time it took us to get there lol.
He felt bad that we had to drive so far so he didnt charge me. Good guy...

I did my clutch about 5 months ago and When we put the trans back on there was a bolt missing on the pressure plate (thanks to a redneck with a "9 second" camaro that hates on my car"). But anyways when we pulled the trans back off had the same problem I just practiced with the old pressure plate and bearing for about 10 minutes and did it on the new one........ I used a flat head screwdriver (really small one) and some needlenose plier and a hammer... Got it right out. you just spread the snapring hit it with a hammer on the otherside... Just a little rant.
