After 2 long days (Yes. 2 Days.) of struggling to put new performance rotors on my 97 Tib, I finally got her all put back together and figured id take it for a spin and test em out. It went all downhill from there.
Everytime Id press the clutch in, it would make a bunch of quick loud clunk (whirring) sounds. I asked my friend who was helping me, he said that it sounds like my throwout bearing. He tells me this is a major job for a mechanic to do and usually costs over $1000
Does anyone know how much it would cost for this to be fixed?
Would it be worth doing in my driveway?
Is it FOR SURE my throwout (release bearing)?
Do I need a "Clutch Kit"?
Oh, and one more thing. My pass. side caliper is seized due to a stuck slider that i cannot budge.
This ****ing sucks.
(BTW: I am in no way inclined mechanically)

Ok you say its the throwout bearing but this is all based on a sound? be more detailed on the symptoms, does it drive? if it does how does it engage, is the sound present when you release the clutch?
And tearing apart the tranny just to check a throwout bearing isnt really something for somebody who's not mechanically inclined.
tell us some more.

thanks Ericy.
Got a friend who knows a bit...but then again, he was helping with the rotors and now THIS ... know what i mean? lol
When the clutch is depressed, the sound is present and i can also feel shuddering from the clutch. The sound and shuddering is NOT present when clutch is untouched.
It does drive and it is possible to shift it into gear, but the problem is still occuring.

I guess it could be ther TB but, if youve ever seen the Tb is unlikely for that to suddenly go bad after so many miles of working fine. More than likely your PP, but you wont know till you tear the tranny off.

how many miles on your car or the clutch you got in there? if its old might as well replace it all. either find soemone who you trust can do it right or youll have to take it somewhere. Its not so difficult but if you dont have tools and arent careful it could get really messed up.

Yah it comes with the throwout bearing, and usually kits do come with the clutch alignment tool.
If you havent done it yet and youve owned your car for a while, it wouldnt hurt to put a fresh clutch in there.
