Believe it or not, autozone sells a rebuild kit for our engines, its not a performance rebuild though, not sure on price.
thats news to me..
anyways back to the original question. why are you rebuilding your engine? You want to run boost? You want to run higher compression? Or do you want to do a basic overhaul?

all a performance rebuild kit is...
bigger pistons or slightly higher compression...
Get yourself new bearings.. new rings.. new shims... BAM!
there goes your rebuild kit...
Also get some headbolts, head gasket, water pump gasket, oil pump gasket, thermo housing gasket,.... thats about it.
Should run you around 125-150
Rebuilding the block could cost you around 300-500
If you have someone also install the block for you... look at spending another 500-1000 for labor
I Recommend you find a nice used beta engine at a local junkyard. The will cost you about 300-500, and youll have a nice almost new engine for less the price.

Re: Redzmans Birthday - Dec 9th
Hey thanks guys. It's for an overhault, my engine has many many many miles on it laugh.gif . I also may be going boost or n2o (with stock compression) in the future so that's why i was asking for a performance kit.
I did however come across this :
HP Engine Kit
For 96-98 Elantra/Tiburon
http://www.importshark.com/store/engine.htm
Do you think it is worth the money. Or should i just get the parts individually, as Jaws suggested ?
p.s. the block should not need a rebuild.

Both good brands of pistons. Stay 8 5 1 for boost. I've seen ross in alot of turbo eclipses I don't know how the price is though, I know pistons get very expensive for our cars. Don't forget your head. Prolly need all new valves and guides. Might as well since you got it apart.
