Pitt the mechanic against HVE. Cancel the check or dispute the charges to your credit card for the mechanic. Have him Call HVE and let those two wrangle out who was at fault and who should pay.
One of the two made the mistake. It should NOT be you who pays.
Maybe rather than screwing your mechanic...offer this. Offer that the mechanic take $250 CN off his bill and admit limited liability, and have HVE admit limited liability for poor instructions and ask them to pay $250 CN to the mechanic.
That STILL does not compensate you for the time without your car and the $$$ in phone calls to HVE, plus time away from work..etc.etc..etc.. If you explain it to all parties that way, they will realize that you still lost more on the deal than either one of them lost...and they might agree to it.

Random!!!
Since i had my car back ive had NO problems.The idea of the 2nd shim worked smile.gif
Now for the Nasty part:
I called up HVE and explained the situation that the 2nd shim got rid of the problem and would like some reinbursment for the Labour.They will not pay a Dime because its not there fault and all the parts they get come from Korea and all they do is add stronger parts in the Clutch kit and should fit fine in the car.
I told him it makes perfect sense that a 2nd shim got rid of the problem and pushed the tranny out 2mm
Their manufacture that makes the clutch doesnt accept liabilty because they said its fine.I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO PISSSSSSSED off that they wont reinburshed me at all.I even told him to meet me half way???????????
I spent tons of money just on phone calls in the last couple of weeks and i always left my number and they never called me back.
I told him about never returning phone calls and taht im always the one calling.
His response was i dont have to call you for every little update on the clutch? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
All i can say is im NEVER GOING TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN.
My final words to him was:
I guess you lost yourself a customer AND TRUST ME ILL SPEAK MY MIND ABOUT YOU GUYS AND HUNG UP!!!!!!

That does suck. I sort of expected more out of HVE.
The only think I can think of to add a positive spin on this, is the NEXT guy to buy that clutch will know to add a second shim!
