Lower will get cooler air, but also run a greater risk of getting wet, and water in the engine isn't good. It's up to you how much risk you want--some people use an AEM bypass valve to reduce this risk
What is this AEM bypass valve?

If you use flex pipe, wouldn't the pipe create turbulance which is NOT what you want for an intake? And another thing, if one uses 2.5" piping for an intake how do you mount the filter at the end considering most filters i've seen are only 3" inner-diameter.

angelos, just use a cone filter with a velocity stack.

Richard.

You can order filters with various inlet diameters. Just ask for a catalog at your local parts store.

As for the ridges--large ridges would be detrimental. However this flexible exhaust stuff only has mild, very flat spiralling ridges, it can actually help flow. I can get this stuff in 2.5" by 6' lengths at the local hardware & farm supply store for under ten bucks. That's enough for about 3 cai's smile.gif

Can you bend that stuff with your own two hands and a little sweat, or do you need a tool?

You can bend it with your hands rather easy.

The Flexable exhaust tubing is not that bad inside, it does have some internal corregation, but it's not nearly as horrible as it sounds.
