Default Radiator leak :(

When I was parking my car today there was a steam under the hood (near acumulator). I thought it's battery boiling, but when I opened the hood I saw ante-freeze leaking on side of radiator. 02.gif Before that I checked water temp - it was ok (between 2 dots).

Any suggestions?

I think it's fairly obvious of what your three choices are:

you can ignore the leak and keep adding coolant.. espensive and eventually the car will overheat and die..

You can replace the radiator

You can try and get the radiator fixed.

Just remember, the stock temp gage has three settings... cold, most everything else, and you just fried your engine. It really does not tell you a thing because quite simply, the needle never moves once the car is warmed up.. that is BS, an engine can very by twenty degrees when on the move depending on load, car speed, and engine speed.

It is more a placebo to make you feel good than a real gage.

I remember using those stop leak pellets in the past for minor radiator leaks (in a different car that a had)..worked good and never had problems with it leaking again. I got it at a convience store..but, like I said, that was a minor leak

those pellets are not recommended, they have a habit of gumming up parts of the cooling system over time. Good for a quick fix in the middle of nowhere.. but once you get the radiator done, you will have to compleatly flush the system to make sure all traces of the stuff are gone.

i would suggest never using radiator stop leak, let alone any other kind of stop leaks. I would say your only good option would be to replace the radiator.

I used the stop leak in my 5.0 Mustang a good while back...I had the car for another 50,000 miles after that and didn't have any problems with the coolant system at all. I'm sure it may be harmfull but it dosn't mean that you will have problems with it.

Thanx to all!

Tomorrow I'll inspect where it is leaking. I hope it can be repaired - welded.

BTW how much anti-freez should be in reservoir tank?
