my engine started to overheat about 2 weeks ago, and I realized the fan wasn't working. I was sitting in dead stop traffic (cruising the strip after a car show) so I was able to turn the car off and on a few times to help it cool down. Having the A/C on helped, because the A/C fan cooled down the engine, I just had to have air circulating from the ouside, not staying in the cabin.

Anyways, I was looking at the fan, no damage is visible. I looked at a bunch of wires, all seem to be in fairly good shape. Then I came across this plug on the engine, at the end of the radiator hose. It's the second plug on the back of the hose. Is it supposed to be brown? I think it's burnt :x Anyone have an extra? Or know how much it would cost from dealership? I doubt it's covered under warranty with 73k miles.

Do you think I can get one from a junk yard, cut the plug off and put a new one on? Just cut it at the wires and attach the wires (possibly solder) and tape 'em up good? Do you think that would work, or do I NEED to get the complete wiring? Because the wiring goes down and connects to a bunch of other wiring and no telling where it leads to...

As usual, I'd get the warranty to look at it first.

cutting the old connector off and putting on a new one would work fine. just make sure you solder them up good and cover them well too. you might also want to check out your fuses. if the connector burnt up badly, it could have exposed wires and blown a fuse.

and call up the dealer and ask, nothing wrong with trying. wink.gif

if its the single wire one than its only for the dash display so if your dash coolant guage is working than thats not the problem... try cutting the wires to the fan and hooking them directly up to the battery and see if the fan is dead... if that doesnt work than the fan is dead if it turns on than work your way backwards... test the fan control relay in the relay box in the engine compartment.... thats the only cause... it cant be the coolant sender cuz if it was your car would start and ilde like shit when it was cold

The connector doesn't look burnt to me (from looking at the pic anyway), it might just be that colour.
I would check all the fuses (in car & engine bay) & relays, & also the fan, like Viper966 said.

I cant believe you noobs!? Did anyone bother to look under the hood at that connector? Its brown bro, and kinda orangish in a dirty part of the engine since there is not much action around the hoses right there.

No cutting or anything please dude. If you have to run power to the first fan. Look at the connector on the fan in the corner at the top of the radiator. Run down that wire closer to the fan, snap a T-tap on each wire, one black, one not (some other color) Just run the black wire to a ground or bolt it to the chassis, then connect the colored wire to a wire that only gets power with the engine on, I'll find one for you and let you know which in the morning.

and if you still believe you have a burnt plug, lol I'll give you the one on my parts car. Dork.

Default H. I. D.s in stocks headlights?

No I didn't look under the hood because I'm at work, but I did say the plug might just be that colour. I also said that I would check fuses & relays 1st, then fan.
