Racing Transmission?
Does anyone know if there is a racing transmission built for beta motors? i'm talking about a transmission that can REALLY take a beating for HIGH horsepower? if not what about some internals?? maybe stronger syncros, gears? cause i'm re-builting a new motor and trans for A LOT of power, and my transmissions cant take the beating of the 140hp i'm putting on them now! ANY knowledge, or information, or even a path to lead me in would be much obliged! THanks in Advance!
... the stock gears are fine for any street legal modifications you can put on it... I'm putting 427 crank HP through my GSX with no problems with the stock tranny. If its giving you problems now, perhaps your not doing the maintenence on the one you have... I've heard 5th gear is weak, but you won't hit 5th gear in the quarter anyway and be putting serious power through it.
The only time on 95% of cars where a new transmission is needed is when they get around 900-1000HP. Trannies for those cars cost tens of thousands of dollars. The only tranny modification you might need to do is a cooler (maybe) and a stronger clutch. Everything else is fine.

hamhead our tranny's are NOT like DSM trannies... the differential is only good to about 300hp and the synchros are pretty poor as well, also the problem with 5th gear needs to be addressed to.
Id recommend beefing up the three issues i just stated

I would have expected him to be looking at an LSD by 300 anyway. By then its rather necessary I would think.
5th gear your not going to touch until 110mph trap speed either way. FWD, thats like 12.9 in the quarter. Unless he plans on taking it to the track a lot, I don't see him needing to replace 5th. It could take a few hits if necessary.
The synchros are bad? I've never heard of that as an issue. If it is true, then you may want to look at the synchros then. I'd worry about the tranny last, and do the drivetrain and engine first however.

You'll probably have to get them custom made. Koreans might have them, but shipping would cost an arm and a leg and three toes. Most Tib stuff like this you will have to get custom made.
SERIOUS power isn't very specific. What numbers do you want to put down and what are you going to use to get there? Then we can give better advice on how to put that power down as reliably as possible.

Cheaper solution:
Change shorter gear ratio use for racing, they are stronger than stock from TigerLily and M&TEC.
Mild solution :
M&TEC also offers dog transmission type.

Top of the Lin :
6speed sequential is available for all Beta cars and cost $50,000 from Hewland, Xtrac,

For gearing, Kspec.com does sell FGR's that you can replace with.
Also, the M&Tec LSD is on sale at our site.
M&Tec also sells Axles, but I don't know if David will ship them, he doesn't like to ship HEAVY stuff. Rick can prolly get it for you though.
