Default Race fuel in an NA engine

Just wondering what would happen if you added race fuel (100+ octane) in a car that was NA (just bolt ons, no boost or nitrous)? Would you see any performance increase at all, even if it was 1 or 2 hp or literally nothing at all? I know it wouldnt be worth the extra costs of adding high octane fuel to your car but I wouldnt mind trying it just once to see what its like and then going back to regular good ol' 87 octane.

I would have to agree with faithofadragon on this one. Higher octane fuels burn slower which is good in a high compression situation.

The higher the octane rating the more resistance to detonation and the slower it burns.

So, if you can advance timing, some gain. If you up compression, considerable gain. If you dump it in a stock car, usually a very slight power loss but never a gain.

get the octane high enough in the right temps and you may have issues starting the damn thing. lol.. NOT a good idea. I have seen the proof of race gas making less power in the wrong motor. Houston has (or had it) right there at the track. No v8 nights bring out the dipshits that dump that stuff into stock foci and civics... and they all slowed down. Even stuff that will advance enough to see gains from running 93 octane are not setup to advance timing enough for 100+. Total waste of money!
