My friend has a 2001 auto dodge neon....he accelerates the car in the level 1 gear so he can get the rpm's up more...then he puts it in level 2 gear and rev's it up to 5500 maybe 6 and then puts it in drive.....he claims this is a good method as long as you know what rpm to shift at....is this bad for the tranny? cool.gif I hope i dont get flamed for usually asking a queston. I did search it and found nothing. j/w thx

LOL Your friend is quite a pro, I must say. lmao.gif

Sport-shifting (L,2,D) is BAD for your tranny. Not to mention, it's slower than letting it shift by itself.

you couldn't have searched too hard.
This is called sport shifting, it's not good for your tranny.
Also, it's really not any quicker than just taking overdrive off and flooring it in Drive letting the tranny shift itself.
This is what I know from tibs anyway, not sure about neons I guess though.

i think its likely he's a poser

and i would think it would mess up his tq converter before it hurt the tranny

No I bet he sits on hills, and puts it in Neutral, so he can "roll back" like a manual. LOL

^^LMAO I know people who do that

Lots of people like to "downshift" too. I know of guys who dropped it into L while doing 60.
