So ever since iv had my 97 Tib the fan belt will squeel for a while after i start the car in the winter, eventually stopping. And in the summer i never really have this problem. But i cant take it anymore. I cant count the number of times iv told mechanics to fix the problem, and it results as a temp fix but the squeeling comes back. I dont know what it is, is there something that i can tweek without screwing up the engine and if there is a detailed tutorial would be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

For starters, have you replaced the belts and the pulleys? My Supra used to whine on startup but a new set of pulleys took care of that issue
What type of temp fix did they do? Just adjust the old belts?

Iv only had the car for about 35,000 miles (currently it has 100,000) and i have never changed the pulleys, Usually when i take it to a mechanic they just replace the belt. Could i get rid of this by just adjusting the alternator positioning without loosing power?

Don't dress your serp belts though, only the V-Belt on the power steering. It'll smoke like a b****, but it's alright. You may have bearings in the pulleys going bad though.

Yes, mufler belts, It's a quick easy fix. It will only take you 3.23 minutes to change the muffler belt out. You can get everything you need at your local auto parts store. Just ask them for a muffler belt and a tensioner.
Muffler Belt
Muffler belt tensioner
Once you get under there and look everything will become clear.
