I took the plate in front of my headers off. On my tib... is that ok??

It is there as a heat shield. It keeps the head from the exhaust manifold from getting into your engine bay. I do reccomend that you put it back on. But it will not "kill" or damage anything with it off. However, with it on, your underhood temps should be much lower, and your car might/should perform better with it on due to the lower under hood temps.

Yeah, that heat shield is pretty important. You have plastic materials and wiring in close proximity to the exhaust manifold. That will help protect them. Also, your intake piping (either stock or CAI) will "heat soak" faster with the plate removed. This will cause intake air to be warmer and will cost you power and fuel economy.

So, you should do what I did (and many others here have done), remove it, clean it, paint it, and reinstall it. It really brightens/accents the engine bay, and it keeps its thermal protective properties. It may not look like much, but it does have a purpose.
