Anyone?

Screwdriver 08-29-2005 11:44 AM

Mang. I hope someone steps up. I have a 98 and need these pulleys.

Blue Blaze 09-02-2005 03:38 PM

Awesome!!! Im so in to getting these pulleys. Also If i get the OEM underdrive one i believe, how much smaller or larger will i have to go in belt size? Also Is it fairly simple to replace these pulleys without lifting engine out.

Role Reversal 09-02-2005 03:48 PM

hey mang i will have an oem crank off the 2.5 cvvt this weekend hopefully cause REDZ hooks it up fing02.gif

No such thing as OEM Underdrive man. OEM is just that, OEM. If you want a OEM Size Lightweight pulley, the belts are still the same.

Hells yeah.

Role Reversal 09-02-2005 06:57 PM

went and picked up the belts today. i am going to the hobby shop at like 10am so i can get dibs on tools and the on lift they have that will work. so i dont have to use jack stands. cause im a lazy bastard. nana.gif

not that this is of any benifiet to the rd guys, but it is a benefiet to some of the others in the hyundai community.

Here's a disappointing article on Pulleys. I realize each car has different results, but read through this for yourself.

Pulleys 02.gif

This one talks about the importance of Harmonic Balancing

( Im not sure if tha balancer is built on the pulley or the crank itself)

JH~Tibby 09-12-2005 05:08 PM

Titanium pullys would be nice. So if you can make them a differant size does that mean you can possibly make a lighter stronger pully that will add more ponies?

REDZMAN 09-12-2005 05:11 PM

READ THE THREAD.

really good article!
so pulleys are only good for show. 1 gain ponny is not worth it.

JH~Tibby 09-13-2005 06:30 AM

Sorry Redz I guess I need to work on my woding a bit. What I was trying to say is are you sure that more ponies can be made?

Dmitry 09-13-2005 07:40 AM

^^^
simple - you need 1 female pony and 1 male pony... lmao.gif

probaly if aftermarket pulley will be lighter or smaller or both - you should have hp gain, but what number? 0.1 pony? 0.5 pony? or 1 pony?

REDZMAN 09-13-2005 08:41 AM

<div align='right'><{POST_SNAPBACK}></div></div>

It's an okay article, but nothing we don't know allready. You don't just gain some HP by doing our pulleys (Remember our pulleys, when replaced with lighter versions, take off about 8 to 10 pounds of weight. This is weight your engine has to turn to make stuff work.), but you also get awesome throttle response.

Those guys in that article replaced ONE pulley. And it was only like 3 pounds lighter right? Our CRANK pulley is 4.5 pounds lighter. Then we have the others.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JH~Tibby @ Sep 13 2005, 06:30 AM)</div><div class='quotemain'>Sorry Redz I guess I need to work on my woding a bit. What I was trying to say is are you sure that more ponies can be made?

Yes. It's a proven fact.

Dmitry 09-13-2005 09:00 AM

Yep, engine will rev up faster, but how will it influence on 0-60 or 1/4 mile time?
But how harmful can those 2 ponies be?
The way better will be balancing and blueprinting (yes I know different price range), but it will give you good perfomance mod with longer engine life.

jToIeB 09-25-2005 04:53 PM

Has this idea been abandoned? Anything still going on by way of pulleys being made?

REDZMAN 09-25-2005 10:10 PM

There's a few avenues of approach here, I'm still waiting on someone to send me a set of 98 or 99 PS/Water pump pulleys.

zoned019 09-25-2005 10:30 PM

I think we should all just harass blacktibs and get hotshot on this deal .. you could expect quality fitting pulleys for both gens if a reputable company like hotshot would do it.

jToIeB 09-25-2005 10:32 PM

^^lol werd, let's do it.

REDZMAN 09-25-2005 10:37 PM

That's the plan right now, but we STILL NEED A OEM SET OF PULLEYS FROM A 97-98 TIBURON so we have ONE SET OF EACH VARIANCE. I've allready got all the rest of them, sitting right here.

Screwdriver 09-26-2005 02:18 PM

I don't think Im going to wait much longer for whatever it is you are working on Redz. tired.gif

I should be ordering the Pulley set from Shark Racing in a week or so. (Unless you have a reason for me not to dunno.gif)

Then, perhaps I'll think about what to do with my OEMs.

REDZMAN 09-26-2005 05:35 PM

Plenty of reason not to.

1. Their pulleys are made by GIM.

2. GIM went out of business about 3 months ago.

3. You'd be buying from SR and not helping out the rest of the community.

4. Several folks that have bought the SR GIM pulleys have had issues.

Here's the FIRST one I can remember reading lately.

so whats going on

REDZMAN 10-31-2005 08:00 AM

Read the thread.

jpv8220 10-31-2005 08:09 AM

i read the thread i was just asking if anything else has been accomplished. Or if it has just died

REDZMAN 10-31-2005 08:11 AM

Well, I'll tell ya then.

1. I still need a set of pulleys for a 97-98 Tiburon.

2. After that, we can contact the fellow that is gonna make them for us.

3. After we have all the pulleys, most folks should be able to get Jspeed pulleys again, just have to order and extra part and get new belts.

Screwdriver 10-31-2005 09:05 AM

Well, just to let you all know, my set of SR pulleys are on there way to me. Don't know if they'll fit correctly OR if they'll arrive, but I'm hoping they do.

IF they do, Redz, I might send you my OEM pulley set. I have a 98.

Aviv

REDZMAN 10-31-2005 09:13 AM

Might send them?

LOL

Come on doode.

Screwdriver 11-01-2005 11:07 PM

The pulleys arrived today. Not more than a week after I ordered them. Impressive for a Korea based vendor. They go in this weekend. Initial impressions are good.

jpv8220 01-27-2006 11:36 AM

Are we still waiting on another set of pullies to be sent to you redz??? Or is there any new news.

REDZMAN 01-27-2006 03:29 PM

I got what I had and gave them to Blacktibs. I was tired of being ignored.
