^^ooooh good tech work. wd-40 isn't lubricant though so thats why it went back to normal. it will just drip off what you spray it on after a while.
pick yourself up some lithium grease. It comes in cans or aerosol spray cans. Take apart the linkage and clean it all up with some brake cleaner then lube all moving parts with the lithium grease. I did this along with my recent clutch swap and I couldn't believe the difference just sitting still in the car shifting through gears. Super smooth.
edit: bushings might not be a bad idea. I've not replaced mine though with 105k.

yeah well yesterday my friends > 200,000 tiburon tranny blew up just like majiks tiburon. pieces of it blasted a neat hole through it and it's inoperable. nice little transmission fluid barf on the street left over. i suppose you can't blame the transmissions though, i'd say they're just good for 150,000-180,000 but that's incredibly good considering how much you pay for the car.
get the trans replaced. it's too bad i didn't keep my sister's wreck. it wasn't my choice. could have just sold the transmisison to my friend for cheap and problem fixed.
just get your trans replaced.

My silver tib (00) had about 86000 miles on the chassis when I bought it, the bushings were practically non existent, shifting was a pain. My green tib (97) had more than that and the bushings were in pretty decent shape. I changed both of their bushings, silver one has Flyrydes, and the green one has KJB.

ha ha... It's the washers. Same thing happened to me when I changed my clutch. Old bushings will cause slop, not failure to shift and grinding. You ended up with extra parts. There's supposed to be a washer on top and bottom of the linkage where the arm connects to the wire. I forgot that until now. That's exactally what happened to me.

Is this a good idea to do also? I just orderd some bushings from kjb. Also i am going to take apart it clean it all up with some brake cleaner then grease everything all up. Sound good? Right now im driving my ford contour!!! woot lol So im in no rush to fix it asap. I'm just getting some opinions.

the kjb bushings for the shifter base are nice, they firm it up alot more. I havent installed the other set of bushings on the other end of the cable yet but its comming. Top the bushings off with a short shifter and its like your hand is in the transmission shifting now. :-)
