Ok i have search for hours. but none of the topics had any details about the differences between the 1.8 and 2.0 cams. this is for the NA setup with I/H/E only(NOT with different ecu). I was wondering if the people with this setup can say where they can fell the difference in the power/ touque.(RPM range) If they got better or worse gas millage after installing. and over all if they think it was worth the time and money.

Thanks

I have don it and I am VERY happy with the outcome.

I'll tell you about my experience because you know camshaft performance is severly related to other breathing mods... when I installed it I had a muffler and catback 2,5" exhaust line and a cai.
When i was taking the car out of the shop, I felt it almost exactly as OEM, and I thought MMMmmmm... maybe this wasn't such a noticeable mod... well, what the hell, it was not so expensive either...
Then I got to a big express way, entered and floored it... Wow, that was it, from 3000rpm it goes eagerly to the top, where the 2.0 camshaft would unagressive to 5000rpm and become really mild passed 5000rpm, the 1.8 is more agressive from 3000rpm and up, and stays that way to the redline. The intake sound also increases... (I think this might be one of the reasons Hyundai didn't use it as OEM), this is nice for us, but a critic from a magazine might have critized Hyundai for the noise.

So, it's not a crazy cam, but it gets the engine the eagerness to eat rpms that it should have had and didn't. It's a 100% DO IT mod.

Now, after I installed my headers and AirRam, this is even more noticeable; when installed headers I felt a significantly increase in torque, more than power, but power also increased.

I took my car to a dyno and before AirRam and Headers, it gave 161 nominal HP, I know you like to have WHP more, but that dyno is the only one here, and that's what they could give me. How do I know the dyno was not off? Because I went with 2 friends, one with a Vtec Civic and one with a 306 XSi Peugeot, and they were standard, their readings were 162HP for the civic (with only a muffler) and 132HP for the Peugeot (with muffler, exhaust line and intake); the manufacturers claimed HP for those are 160 for the civic and 128 for the peugeot, so if their readings were reasonable, why wouldn't mine be right? So I beleived my 161 nominal HP. I don't think AirRam/header addition has raised that much, probably changed the curve to get more power early in the power band... I have to take it again to the dybno but I am lazy... this time when I do it I will take a video.

^^^ True, if you keep it at that RPM level. I monitored mine very carefully (always do) and it didn't really change at all. Maybe down 1mpg, and maybe 2 if you run it hard. Soooo worth it though.

Well I get my cam tomorrow and will install it myself wednesday. I'll put my 2 cents here after that

My MPG range from 21-24 so it can't go down too much ;P
