I was thinking of painting my engine this weekend. Can I see some pictures from those of you that have done this? I want to get some ideas. I was thinking about painting the top piece of the spark plug cover silver and the bottom piece red (the color of my car) Let me hear some suggestions
If you take a look in the Image gallery (on the main page) there is a few pictures of engines painted. Check out my gallery, my spark plug cover is painted red. If you are not accenting your "red" car with any other colour, then the obvious choice would be red.

Here's my spark plug cover part. I removed the emblem, painted it with the Duplicolor Metalcast base, then painted it with metalcast red. I was really happy with the results.

In Redz writeup he says to use a ground coat and then paint. Is this the way to go? I've always thought to just use paint and then a clear coat. What's the difference? Why a ground coat?
