It's a phenolic spacer that goes between the head & im. It isulates the im thus keeping the air in the im cooler, and it also effectively lenthens the runners which gives better air flow to the engine.
There has been some talk about them in these forums lately.

OK, I know what you're talking about. I wonder if it would work with my AirRam Manifold. Speaking of which, I'm surprised you havn;t created a replacement manifold yet.
