Default Re: Someone Help Me Find THIS Rear!!!!

I have heard many opinions on when to change the oil in your car. I have seen everything from every 3000-7500 miles. I don't have the owner's manual for my 01 Tib, so I am not sure how often to change. Can anyone give a definitive answer on how often it should be changed? Thanks so much!

Default Oil change frequency

The manual says to change the oil every 6000 to 6500 miles (I don't remember which exactly).

My majority of mileage is commuting at 75mph about 40 miles everyday. Would this have and effect on how often I should change?

No, you should keep it at the recommended intervals. Highway driving is not as bad as city driving. On the highway, you don't have the stops and yields that the city does. It's the stop and go that does more wear on your motor than staying at a constant speed.

oh and i guess i should mention that on my car i have 130k on it so oil changes are needed a lil sooner than a fresh engine on a fresh engine i would change it like every 3750 or so

That old saying about changing the oil every 3,000 is a thing of the past. That came out in the 70's or maybe even before that. There have been large advancements in the way oil is refined since that figure came out. Oil can last longer than 3,000 and even when it looks black, it's still good.. It dosn't hurt to change it every 3,000 though but it's not necessary, unless circumstances warrant.

Since i switched to synthetic (50K) I've been changing my oil at roughly 4k, before that it was changed religously at 3k.

If I didnt change it at those intervals, my engine would make a ticking noise that scared the crap outta me.

Default Re: Exhaust?

I thought synthetics were not recommended on our cars...something the dealer told me when I bought my car.
