which oil...
ok, it's my understanding that with conventional oils, it's better to use a single-weight oil, right? well, i don't use conventional, but i'm saying that to cover all bases. secondly, even though sythetics have chemicals that allow them to withstand great temperature ranges, isn't it STILL best to use an oil with the smallest range? i've always used mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30.

i'm driving the car in connecticut during the winter and part of spring. i'll be home in florida for the summer. so given this, what would be the best oil range choices in each of these climates. i saw a chart with various oil weights and their operating temps on this board recently, but i can't find it. if you have one, please post it up.

I personally only reccomend using Synthetic oil. 15-50 for summer and 5-50 for winter
i'm just curious if the belief that single-weight oils (or oils with the smallest heat range) are better holds true for both conventional AND synthetic oil or neither.::edit::

I run 10W-30 Synthetic here in FL, and I have since I bought the car new. (Minus using crap 10-30 for break in.) I think the 10W-30 should be sufficient for you for anything.. BTW, where in FL are you?

It really depends on climate. During the winter, you want the lower base number the "5" in 5W-15. The "15" is the "hottest" it can take. thus 5W-15 is to thin an oil for Flordia, but is just fine for conneticut winters.
