Wilbur has some, but his cracked pretty badly. I don't think he had a good flex pipe though.

I would get KFX's header if it was me...

They turn color and rust pretty quickly over others. If you wrap them in heat wrap, it wont be so bad. I know some people have gotten them and had them heat coated too. For the price, plus coating....you can have yourself some pretty decent and inexpensive headers. Otherwise, if you dont want to go to through the issue of sending them out to be coated, just hit up your local automotive parts store and buy some header wrap to cover them up. smile.gif

i got OBX on my tib and I did a DIY on RDTiburon.com, search "Header Install"

My opinion on OBX is they suck. I have little clearance with my flex a lite fans so they actually stick out more then the KFX. They also don't usually just bolt up because of the downpipe. I had to cut a 5" piece out of my stock DP and use it because the DP they sent with the headers was at least a foot short. Also the 02 bung is in a bad place and will most likely give you CEL 0135.

I have had them installed for a couple months now and I do like the difference they made. I think most of the performance is still there and they sound just like most headers do, nice and deep at idle and raspy at wot.

I would go with KFX for the $150 or so more because they will at least bolt right on. Unless you can weld really good, the metal in our stock DP is not an easy metal to weld. Your typical arc welder will melt right through.

I was told that the KFX headers will not fit on a Beat swap that has a Alpha trannie, this is due to the clutch slave cylinder.

Any other headers out their besided the KFX?

nope, SFR may have a set but I would not trust them/Jay

I would go to RDT and check out the vendor thread because Chris(blacktibby) took some good pics that show clearance and fitment for KFX headers on a beta engine

Understood, I have looked at the DIY. See the issue is not the motor or anything like that. It’s the clutch slave cylinder that sicks out from the tranny. I have spoken with another member, on another site who purchased them for his beta swap. His problem was with the slave cylinder hitting the headers. Its my understanding that KFX equal length headers will NOT work for a beta swap with Alpha tanny installed.

i see what your saying (I just went and compared pics of both engines and tranny's) but why can't you just move it from the front of the block to the top of the tranny like the beta's have it? is there not enough room or something?

The slave cylinder pushes the fork out which allows you to switch gears, their is not another way to mount it. It has to push the fork. I believe that the Elantras are a pull type clutch.

I had an OBX on my Tib and it didn't have any problems. Fit fine, made power and didn't crack. I had an OBX turbo manifold on one of the turbo Integra's I built. It cracked in 3 places and fell apart after being on the car for 3 hours. So, it seems it's hit or miss. I just bought a used one for my Elantra for $100. If it cracks, no big deal, I'm out $100. I'd say, if you can find one for $100 or less, try the OBX... I wouldn't pay any more than $100 for one.
