I have been noticing that after spirited driving my engine will tick for a while unless I drive it normally for a few minutes after the race.

I have been told that it is the HLA's getting noisy due to poor oiling at the top of the engine...

Has anyone else had this problem before, and if so... How do I fix it.

Have you checked your oil level? Make sure it's topped off.

It could be that you're running the pan dry at high rpms, or that the oil is sloshing to one side and starving the pump.

Best solution is to custom weld a larger/deeper sump, with a longer/deeper reaching pickup, and better baffles.

That's the best short term solution,.... it just loses oil. I've seen it happen to a few of the guys with RDs who AutoX'd too.. Hasn't happened to me yet,... but my oil level is topped up.

That's because you haven't AutoX'd before,...
it's a rush,...
I only stopped because I have no time,... and tires were getting pricey,...

Short term solution? It loses oil? How so?

If the oil's disappearing, then it's going somewhere and you have a problem.

I always check my fluid levels before racing. I guess this means I have to get a new oil pan with bigger baffels. Does anyone know of an aftermarket RD pan or do I have to get a new one and get some welding done?

GK is aluminum.

I would hit up a junkyard and buy a spare to hack up and modify.

they have two more cylinders than the beta. rolleyes.gif

but the 4cyl GK's have the same pan/engine as us.

Use better oil, check yoru levels before racing. BEST solution, change oil before and after racing.

sometimes my HLAs get noisy but Ive found out that many times its actually that purge valve up by the firewall on the drivers side that does the ticking. they sound very similar. if you touch that valve you can feel it if its ticking. May just be that
