i was using omega oil that they put in my car after they change my pistons, so bout a month later notice a loud sort like ticking sound oil was low, so i changed my oil put in 10w30, after i left the gas station and was driving back, i got some white smoke out of my exhaust, but havent got any more lately, but i have this loud ticking sound coming from around the cam sprocket, pulleys area, so far i have changed

all my valve lifters, 2 were bad but that wasnt the problem
it is not my timing belt my mechanic say
took off the alternator belt, pwr steering belt that wasnt the sound
changed my intake manifold, they open up my head and said everything internally was good,
nobody knows what it is anybody have any ideas? could it be the oil, something loose round the pulleys i dont know help me please!!!!!! this is not good considering im putting a turbo in my car this friday

White smoke is leaking head gasket, or it's cold outside and it's water vapor. You should look at that first. Certain aftermarket oil filters will cause the ticking because they do not flow enough oil.

yea i know bout the white smoke, i gonna be getting getting my compression from the na 11:1 to 9: something when i go turbo so that should take care of the pistons if the rings are bad, but i still dont know bout the ticking i am going to check the oil filter but the sound was not coming from there but i will check thanks

The sound won't come from the oil filter, it comes from the hydraulic lash adjust and lifters being starved of oil.

Did they check the idler pulley for the timing belt, I had a ticking type of sound coming from that area for a few months, turned out the bearing on the idler pulley was going bad a sticking causing a tick sound, I didn't find out what it was untill the bearing started making a horrible screaming sound when the bearing blew apart, but after I changed it that tick was gone.

When you changed your oil, did you change your filter?

Oil pressure caused the problem. fing02.gif I love our cars! 90% of the time it's something simple. 9% it's something we did. 1% is an actual problem.
