Ok so i tried to get a shop to do a custom 2.5" SS mandrel bent exhaust for my tibby... all the shops in NY said they dont bend Stainless steel. I called a shop around here and he told me to look in PA. i called a guy thats about an hour and a half away from here that specializes in SS exhaust. I told him what i wanted for my tibby and he said, "tibawhat?" which caught me off guard. He said, "i aint never heard of one of dem, is that some rare car?" i was like no its a hyundai tiburon.. He asked me to compare it to a car and give him some dimensions of the exhaust i need.. off the top of my headi said its a sport compact car and that it is similar in size to maybe a cavalier.. maybe smaller.. he said for a cavalier its $140 but he doesnt know for sure if it would be the same...
What can i tell this guy so i can get an accurate estimate on my exhaust?
Or does any body know a shop around Fredonia, NY that does SS?

yah i was going to get in on that but it is a 2.25 inch exhaust and i want 2.5... this guy just never heard of a tiburon and i was just looking for about how long our exhaust ends up being and that i can assure him that it wouldnt be much different than putting an exhaust on a domestic car that he would be more familiar with such as a cavalier... just the bends would be different..
An easier option would be to buy some U-bends of SS pipe and just have a local shop weld sections together, no need for them to be able to bend. It would probably be a lot less expensive too.
Just make sure they can weld stainless. I ended up going with aluminized mild steel because no one in my area wanted to mess with stainless.

thats what iw as going to suggest
140 for just the piping isn't a bad deal... if you went to JC Whitney and bought the bends and gave it to them they would still charge around that price... maybe save 40 bucks or so.
Its no diff than a Cavvy... about the same length... see if he has any experience in Toyota Celicas... the 94-99 have similar body length and relatively similar exhaust paths if I remember right when I was under one.

No its 140 total.. thats why i want to go to this guy.. i just wanted to make sure that there is no drastic differences between domestic and import exhausts that would make the price not as cheap

Yah thats what i wanted to know, that the exhaust paths were comparable. I looked up the length..and the length isnt too far off, were actually much shorter. cavvy is ~180" and were ~170" that should save a few bucks.. thanks guys ill prolly go to him next week sometime
Fredonia huh?? I'm here in Rochester. Sign up for www.roclife.org if you want local shops. There are a few speed shops in the city that have a mandrel bender and will bend it for you. I also have a guy in B-lo who will pie cut and weld your exhaust with high-flow car and muffler. He quoted me about $450 for 2.5" from header-back. PM me if you want me details.
140 w/ muffler? I doubt the quality of the muffler or of the stainless steel he'd be using... for mandrel that seems a touch low. He'd be really needing to be making a lot of money to pay for a 2.5 mandrel machine... thats only like 40-60 bucks profit per exhaust. 2.5 mandrel benders run near 800,000 buckeroos to buy. o.0
