i had my timing belt changed not to long ago and thought i would just get my fuel filter changed as well. To my surprise when i asked the tech to have it done he tells me it's in the gas tank and does'nt need to be changed. i argued with him a bit but he swears that's where it is. now i have looked around on the site here and from what i can tell my car does have one and it needs to be replaced. can you guys enlighten me on this. btw it's a 2001 tibby.

thanx!

Your tech is a friggin moron. The fuel filter is on the firewall, drivers side. Even shows it in your owners manual.

As a matter of fact, there is a DIY here on how to replace it, with pictures. Go embarass him.

Yup, the filter is just under the brake master cyl. quite easy to replace, took me 20 minutes (and I had problems getting to the bottom fitting)

it's dirt cheap at the dealer (I got it at 25$ where part store were selling it for 40$)

That's exactly what i thought Redzman. i even told him why would it be in the manual if it didn't need to be changed, he said it was just a general book for the hyundais. i kinda scares me that i take my car there now.

I usually do all my own stuff that i feel that i can handle, but right now it's freezing cold here and i really don't feel like crawling around my engine bay in it. i would just rather have it done by the dealer and stay warm smile.gif. also just talked to another dealership not the bonehead one and i have a appointment next monday. i think it maybe worth it to just drive the extra 20 mins. to go to the other dealer.

Yeah it's always better to look around at the dealers in your area, I go to the nearest one but I know it's not the best one, if I ever need good service I know I have to drive a good 30 minutes, but it's worth the extra fuel!!!

Do not let that person ever work on your car!

But I'd definately take it back there and show it to him. Eeven if you didn't, tell him you just did it yourself in like 10 minutes, because you knew he was full of BS. lmao.gif
