I got myself a new exhaust for my 99 fx Tiburon.

What i need to know is what parts come stock on the fx's exhaust system, when I look under the car I see the exhaust manifold then flex pipe, then what appears to be the stock cat, then what looks to be either a pre-muffler or a after market cat, then what looks to be an in-line resonator or somethingof that nature

I can take pictures if necessary but what i would like to know is which would actually be my cat so i can be sure to leave it in but i want to chop my new muffler in because it will not fit in the traditional place due to the tips i have chosen.

I looked for a repair manual but apprerenly the auto parts stores near me do not carry much Hyundai.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is first in line after the flex pipe (oem cat?)

this is directly after the first what i think is the oem cat (pre-muff?)

this is directly after what i called the pre-muffler (resonator ?)

All you need is such: Headers, flex pipe, catalyst, resonator, muffler. Not sure what all was in there currently, but this should be all you need.

I know what should be there, I was hoping someone could tell me what I am seeing there in my pictures, or what should be there stock so I could diagnose with out tearing it apart to see what each piece is.

Also...do these cars come stock with a header? or is it just a generic exhaust manifold?

first pic is the stock cat
second pic is a muffler... I don't know about RD1's but that's not stock on an RD2
third pic is a resonator... I don't remember if my stock exhuast had one or not.

if you got a cat back exhuast you just take everything off behind the cat and bolt it up. you could also get a bigger or straight thru cat if you wish to replace that.

the "pre muff" and resonator are not needed with a cat back... you can add in a resonator if you feel that your exhaust is to loud... but I would not re use that one. So just throw all that stuff in the trash =)
