Default New Belts

2 morrow i will be trying to clean off my belts seeing as tehy are only like 2 months old and are squeeling like a 74 pinto, i didnt have the mud guard covering the belts for a month because frankly i didnt know i lost it, i got ran off the road trying to avoid a drunk driver just ened up on the shoulder but i hit soem grass and bottomed out, and i guess i scraped it off, but anyways i cant find anything on HMAService about removing the accesory belts, and how much will new ones cost me and i cant find that on the hyundai parts extranet either, they are just not on there, so any help would be appreciated, cuz if the belts are <20 bux i will buy new ones rather than trying to clean the old 1's

The three belts are about $48 bucks if I remember right, and they are a semi-PITA to change out.

Just wash off the belts with a garden hose, then run the engine untill they dry, then spray them with "belt dressing" that you can get at any auto parts store. That should solve the noise problem.

If you need new belts, try to find Gabbles green stipes. A few bucks more but the last you`ll buy.

BMS212 - Belt dressing will take care of the squeeals

Viper966- The belts get coated with overflow from the Radiator overflow tank. That anti-freeze residue needs to be washed off to remove the noise. After the belts are washed and dried, then apply the belt dressing.

Duclos is right, Green Stripe belts are a tad more expensive than regular belts, but they do last longer. However, if you replace your belts every 40,000, then just go with the cheaper ones.

get yourself an overflow resevoir for the antifreeze, a good 30 dollar investment.
