i've got a mid 01 and I'm using a standard non-wierd shifter as well... is there a way to reference the part for identification purposes other then "wierd" and "non-wierd"?

This has been known and discussed for years but nobody has ever said for sure that they have a late 2001 model with the new style shifter. If it is fact and not fiction there should be a production date to go along with it. Cars manufactured after a certain date would have the new shifter.

Interesting. I guess I should take off my shifter surround and see which one I have. I only paid $20 for the shifter on ebay. laugh.gif tongue.gif

Considering Hyundai has NEVER put any other part numbers out for our shifter or shifter base, this is just a rumor that is flying around here. No one has ever seen a RD with a White shifter base that uses the ball shifter.

word... i have a later model 01 i think, and i have the regular style shifter.. i think the ball type is for the XDs and the GKs, and some companies label it to fit a rd series but it wont..
someone show me one pic, of a stock tib, with that style shifter please.. cuz i have NEVER EVER seen or actually heard of people with the ball style, just heard of people getting the wrong ones and starting the rumor that either the new or old rd had that style shifter...
