I own a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon with the following mods:

Cold Air Intake
Performance computer chip
Altezza Lights

Now I am new to the whole car modification scene so please don't flame me or question my intellect, I admit that I am a bona fide newbie. I have been told via this forum by two other members that I should lose the computer chip. Now I have never put my car on the Dyno so I don't know if the chip does give extra HP or not, but I want to know if it really is useless and I should discard it? Figured I would get the best advice from fellow Tiburon owners.

I also have 4-2-1 OBX headers and a performance exhaust I plan on installing soon as well. I also plan on buying Front and Rear strut bars and sway bars as well. Trying to upgrade car a little bit without breaking bank account. I may even get my cylinder heads ported and polished if money permits (Just got married, bills gotta come first). Is there any other minor upgrades I can do on a small budget? Any help would be nice.

I take back question on computer chips, searched and found answer I needed (maybe I should search first, then post, duh!) Anyhow, other part of question still stands for now.

Yes, search is your friend.

Here's a short list of stuff you can search for:
1. throttle body coolant bypass
2. oil catch can
3. better tires and wheels
4. better brake pads and rotors
5. lightweight flywheel when your clutch goes
6. underdrive/lightweight crank pulley
7. port/polish the intake manifold
8. better headlight bulbs
9. lowering springs
10. polyurethane bushings

Most of this stuff is under $300 individually, and some is doable for under $50. Don't do stuff all at once. When things wear out, replace them with higher-performance aftermarket parts.

You're on the right track, though. And please, please, please, ditch the Altezzas!!! Sell them to somebody and use the money to get something that will net you a real gain.

Swap the chip with a Dorrito and you'll get the same hp gain. At the rate that folks are getting away from the alteeza's you might want to hold on to them for when they come back into style again joke.gif Check out the vendors section for upgrades. My philosophy is to wait until something needs to be replaced and use that as an opportunity to upgrade. In many cases "upgrades" are equal to or cheaper than oem. Like was already said, SEARCH is your friend and will save you money and heartbreak.
Get the other 2/3 of the big 3 installed (header and exhaust) and you will see a big performance improvement over stock. Then you probably will want to focus on ride (wheels, tires, suspension, brakes).

Give a big sigh of relief, you've found the right place. Welcome.

my best cheap mod has been the 1.8l cam i would suggest that because you can definatly FEEL the diffrence when you get into the higher RPM's.
