i was reading http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?s...ic=20799&st=20 and didnt wanna clutter it with more ot so i thought id make a quick post..

i have a rev a, but it has an 00 motor in it, so that means i probably have a rev a 1.8 ecu, with the 2.0 motor? so i would benefit by swapping to a reg 1.8 ecu?
i get about 30mpg...

motor isnt what makes it a revA. location of the carbon canister, and vac set up do, which would have stayed the same even with a different motor installed.

revA motors and non revA motors are the exact same.

check the local yards, they sell for pretty cheap most of the time. try it out, if it doesnt work, turn around, and sell it on here...

it will obviousely work, just dunno if it will be for the positive or negative.

most likely, it will still be a good mod. the reva's ecu just has really crappy tuning. id assume since the reva ecu works in non reva cars, it would work the other waya round too.

If you're SURE it's a Rev A ECU, then yes, you probably would benefit from a swap. It seems kinda complicated; you're running a 99 Tiburon with an 00 motor (that supposedly used to be Rev A, but you got rid of that, plus 00 motors only came in 2.0 non Rev A), but you have a Rev A ECU (pre-1998 cars)? Correct or confirm that if you would... I think I'm completely misunderstanding something...

I would probably change your ECU just to be sure, they're really cheap from Car-Part.com

The car is a 97 rev-a, with an 00 motor/trans. I removed the evap canister to install my cai (thats how i knew it was a rev-a).

not all pre-98 cars are revA. its like a 50/50 shot. some are, some arent. hence why you look for the cansiter to see which one it is.

Oooh, I misread somewhere, I thought it was a '99, not a '97, sorry...
Did your used to be a 1.8L before you put in the new engine?
In any case, you probably would benefit from a new 1.8 ECU since it's presently the Rev A.
Sorry for getting OT for a bit... I were cornfuzed.
