I don't like to diss neone for DIY's but I think it looks crappy. Props for giving it a go though. You should hit that bay with some degreaser, especially the tranny, it look really bad mang

Thumbs UP!!!
Good work!!!

Most important thing is hp, and not how CAI looks like (you cannot see CAI if you don't open the hood).

Nice job OP. Way to take care of things yourself (w/o paying the 190 for AEM).

IMO, all intakes are pretty much the same, some give slight gains over others, some look way better, but overall an intake is an intake. Homemade or Aftermarket. The only exception is that PVC ....dare I say "intake" that KayJai posted up. Oh man, that was horrible.

OP, I wouldn't waste your time painting your headers, they look real nice at first but it's a waste because like REDZ said, they usually fade and dis-color in 3 days or less. If you want colored headers or just nice shiny chrome headers then find a shop that does performance coatings. Here in Washington there is a place called Performance Coatings and they do two different kinds of ceramic coatings in all kinds of colors. It's not as expensive as you may think. With the cheaper kind of ceramic coating it's $16/ft. Everything is approxamated and negotiable. I'm going to get my headers, intake tubing, and tip of exhaust muffler done for 100. I will have to take off everything myself but imo, I think it's a damn good price.

Good work on the car, OP. Does it sound different than the intake you had on?

If it were coated with ceramic, it would not function to reflect heat up to 2000 degrees.

I think it's an excelent idea. What's the point of a CAI if when your engine get's hot the tubing acts as a air to air inter-heater?

I have one ghetto-fied thing on my car. I hooked up an engine chassy ground from the cherry picker loop mount to the radiator mounting screw. It keeps my lights from dimming when the bass hits. Engine-battery ground sux. Stock engine chassy ground isn't the best.

I think i'll make it 2 ghettofied things.

BTW... powder coating will work alot better on your headers smile.gif You may want to get some silicone lube from the auto store to restore your rusted plastics hehe.

Here we go again with this topic. I do not know about YOUR CAI.. but I have the eBay one. Even after driving for miles on a 90+ degree day, I can pop the hood and place my hand on it. It is always cool to the touch from the air going through it to the intake. Granted, the heat that goes to the piping has to go somewhere when the cold air is sucking it away from the Aluminum... but not enough that the CAI has become a Hot air intake.

sure, but when my engine is idling after warmup and the heat isn't being displaced by wind rushing through the engine compatment, mine tends to get warm to the touch.

Filter is inside the fender well getting air straight at it. I will take pictures when I fix everything.

I just ordered 3" 45 degree bend instead of a 90 degree, which should perform even better, and because it's going to be a 3" pipe going into a smaller 2.75" velocity should be increased a little bit. And I got a K&N filter instead of cheap POS that I had. So new intake will be only 45 or less degree bends smile.gif

Sound from the intake is a little bit different, since filter sitting further down.

I'm looking for 4-1 headers right now and those will be Jet-Hotted and these will be sold smile.gif
