i got it fixed that battery was completely shot, replaced it now and its fine thanks for all the helps guys

cool stuff, so how'd you go about getting it checked out?.. does the autoparts stores check your battery? glad you got it taken care of. did you still check your alternator, if not you probably should.

 

yes, check also your alternator.
start the engine, turn on low beam, high beam, blower, music and test voltage on the battery, should be not lower than 14V.

Unless you are running an underdrive crank... At idle my headlights alone are quite dim thanks to that pulley. Once I get her above idle, she is fine.

 

About 13.6/7V to 14.4V is normal anything under is not charging your bat effeciently, and anything over is frying electrical components. Auto store alt testing is useless. I took my alt down and had it checked at TWO different locations, Autozone and Checker. They both said it was fine. Got home and through the multimeter on it and got 17.2 volts!!! I dont know how I didn't blow my amps or ECM or any other of the hundred electrical components in the car. REplaced the alt, now everything is fine. My bet is it was probably just your battery, but definately check and make sure you are getting sufficient voltage. ALSO...just to make sure that you alt is not KILLING batteries as mine was, rev up the engine with the multimeter on the bat. The regulator should keep it from going above 14.4 If it doesn't then your regulator may be going and could have caused your bat to expire.

 

btw.. how old was your battery.. about 5 years or so if not badly abused is the usual lifespan. The one in my tib died almost exactly at five years.

 

Man, if your car dies while it's running because you flip the headlights on, your alt is bad (or some crazy electrical short/malfunction), no matter what those tests say.

 

^^^ bad, very bad battery also can cause it.

alt is trying to charge the battery, but battery may have a short inside, and when you turn on the light alt doesn't have enogh power.

That's why dead battery can kill voltage regulator on alt.

This happened to me.

 

Zoned019 - not necessarily... if the battery is cooked, it will not accept a charge from the alternator. You can usually still get the car running with a boost but any power demand will kill it.
