Default Maintenance Lights

Will there ever be a time where Hyundai starts making cars that tell you when to do scheduled maintenance like oil changes, spark plugs and wire, timing belts, filters, etc?

Some cars have this already and a light will turn on if its time for an oil change. It would take more sensors for the OEM to implement but in todays world where 90% of people are idiots and dont take care of their own cars or do scheduled maintenance when its due, I can see this happening.

Everyone ignores these things anyway. The 80s GM system was fine, because it was quite easy to tamper with (think of when the car is out of warranty and you start changing the oil yourself). A mate of mine has an E30 bimmer, and resetting the service light costs $$$$ at the stealership, or $$$$ to purchase on of these.

Anyone who cares will get their car serviced anyway, anyone who doesn't care will ignore some stoopid light. Most people ignore CELs and even their hi-beam indicator lights already...

Comes up on the Veloster touch screen every time it's close to a service needed.

Or you can cross two pins if you don't want to buy a tool.

My mom bought an '01 Rav4 brand new off the lot and still owns it. The check engine light randomly comes on and an OBD reader says no issues and won't let you shut the light off. We take it to the dealer and they tell us it is programmed to come on at certain intervals. WTF. Talked to couple other Rav4 owners. Same thing.

Do your own maintenance. Take care of your car. If it sounds funny or is doing something new. Maybe you should check it out instead of turning up the radio.

My 2 cents.

If a car tells you when it needs service, too many computers are involved with that car.
