I'm no longer using Lucas with my gear oil. But when I drained my oil that had been topped off with Lucas it honestly looked okay. A little off-color, but nothing as bad as that test shows. But then again, I didn't even have 1000 miles on that oil.

I'm interested in long term results, Someone should check theirs out that has a few years on it.

Keep in mind though that it is around $11 a quart and you will need 3 quarts because our manual trans's hold about 2 1/4 quarts.

Yup... In the thread owned.gif wink1.gif

i have used lucas for 2 years now and my grandpa has used it in his diesel for 6 years. we both do our own oil changes and he and i have never seen discolorization like that. i'm scheptical of that information.

i had the royal purple in my trans and IMHO it wasnt any better than the 5 dolla gm syncromesh i got now or even the redline oil i had before this i would rather put syncromesh since you dont have to go out of your way to get it just pull into any gm dealers parts counter and ask for it

Don't be. You ever check your oil right after running it at high RPM?

No. No one would, it would be hot as hell and youd burn yourself.

Ive changed my gear oil after a hard drive.. .I have also changed my oil with a hot engine..

I always changed it with the theory that the longer the car sits, the more time tiny fragments have to settle somewhere..

Ive seen my gear oil look similar to that ONCE.

Also.. i was always skeptical of the lucas combo. I remember there was also a thread, could have been on HA.com where me and a couple of other people said that simple ass synchromesh felt smoother then the lucas combo.
I always went with lucas purely because i thought it protected the tranny better.

Well..

Hows this..

If i dont do turbo stuff this weekend,... Ill drive my car hard ass hell and then ill take a vid of the gear oil coming out...

Either way, with my past, ive made it a routine to change my gear oil every 7-10K miles.
