There's another way to adjust your idle, it has to do with the Idle Air Bypass Motor.

Look at the tenth post down by Random:

QUOTE
To set your idle.

Turn on ALL Accessories. Radio, blower, AC, rear Defrosters, headlights, neon, everything you've got.

Now, block off the hose going from the Intake elbow to the Idle Air Bypass. This allows you to set the idle with the idle set screw in the butterfly. Set it for 800 RPM.

Then turn the car off, re-connect/unblock the hose from the elbow to the idle air bypass, start car. You should idle between 800 and 1200, but the idle should never dip below 800.

awesome, thanks
I know it is low, it sounds low. I looked at it today, I don't think it is a major concern, my idle is around 1000

i know what you guys mean. my personal mechanic made my car really idle to increase the fuel economy. when most of the electricals are on (especially during winter when i'm using heating) and with each power usage (headlights, cdplayer, AC), the RPM's get lower. kinda funy when you turn on your headlights the steering wheel starts shaking.

i don't mind it however the power of the car dramaticaly decreases. my tiburon feels like a normal car. the other tiburons i drive seemed to really prove themselves on the streets whereas mine just sort of pulls and pulls. sometimes my acceleration staggers when i'm pulling onto the freeway.

you can tell if your car is low idle with an automatic transmission. first, the car's RPM's should never go below the 1 meter (mine does).Second, if when pulling up a hill or angled driveway, the Tiburon should not switch to first gear when pulling up it but instead stay in the same gear at low speed hence second gear should normally get the car up the driveway with no problems. mine, of course, has to switch from second to first to actually pull into the driveway. third and last, your car should not shake when stopped with power usage. when i use my brakes the car shakes because the lights from the rear light up.

:!: now for the question :!: do you think having your car idle increases the life of your engine? is it worth setting your car to idle?

more or less its personal preff... if in manual... you'd get annoyed by having to rev higher inorder to go anywhere in first instead of just dropping the clutch slowly (like you do in cars with power...)

with autotragical when you release the brake from a stop then youll have a possiblility of the annoying stutter...
