HEY
If no trans.problem then its your idea, same thing happens to me also sonetimes. It depends also by the climatological changes.
For example when i am driving daytime i usually lose about 20hp due to temp.rising.But nighttime i am ok again(turbo´d tibby)

Raver-
you do have a 1998. How many miles are on it?
Have you ever changed out the manual tranny gear oil?
Have you ever bled out the clutch?
Any signs that your clutch is slipping, or is it the gears missing, or does it feel like the engine lurching?

i know exaclty what your talking about turbo tib,i feel like during the day my car will go faster in reverse with the heat down here but whenever nightfalls its like i have a hole new car...and my tranny is slipping also..but i know all to well about that seeing how this is my 2nd gen elantra and i have had 5 tranys and a circitry and wireing between the 2 cars ....i guess im a little hard on it huh
yeah i got a 98, and no i havent changed the gear oil...i might have to do that huh. anyway, i havent bled the clutch either, and no it doesnt feel like my gears are slipping...i mean sometimes i'll throw the shifter into a gear and it might pop out but i thought that was b/c of the shortshifter i just threw in...
