this has been talked before and i tried searching and cant find it
what is the part number for the longer 5th gear for beta 1 tranny...my old members know what im talking about

check out hmaservice parts website, i'm guessing it's still around. it's the gear out of like a 1998 elantra or something (you can cross-check that on webtech).
probably easier/cheaper to just get a 98 elantra trans. slightly longer 1st gear, but that can be good with more power.

I've got the trans out of a '00 or'01 elantra (can't quite remember the year), and when cruising at about 73mph my rpms at just at 3k, about 400 to 500 rpms lower than the original trans.

The gear, plus probably a new set of synchronizers for it yes? Then the cover comes off, gear just pops right off . . . hmm . . .
nah, I don't have the $ for it. I still need to find a host for my spreadsheet that calculates the time to payoff a mod done just for fuel economy. I think you guys would like it.

hma shows the 98 elantra trans has the same 1,2,3 gears as the tib, but i think the info from their site is wrong, because that would mean that the original 5th in our trans is the longest 5th gear that came on the beta.
