check out hmaservice parts website, i'm guessing it's still around. it's the gear out of like a 1998 elantra or something (you can cross-check that on webtech).

probably easier/cheaper to just get a 98 elantra trans. slightly longer 1st gear, but that can be good with more power.

I've got the trans out of a '00 or'01 elantra (can't quite remember the year), and when cruising at about 73mph my rpms at just at 3k, about 400 to 500 rpms lower than the original trans.

Yeah, running a beta 2 tranny out of an 05 elantra gets me 3000rpms @ approx. 75mph with stock wheels.

I figured it out, I never did it. You want a 2.0 from 2000 5th gear. the one in the outter tranny cover.

The gear, plus probably a new set of synchronizers for it yes? Then the cover comes off, gear just pops right off . . . hmm . . .

nah, I don't have the $ for it. I still need to find a host for my spreadsheet that calculates the time to payoff a mod done just for fuel economy. I think you guys would like it.

hma shows the 98 elantra trans has the same 1,2,3 gears as the tib, but i think the info from their site is wrong, because that would mean that the original 5th in our trans is the longest 5th gear that came on the beta.
