Kore filters
My car would not idle today after a quick WOT burst 0-30...
so i started checking the usual fuel/air/spark deal and found this
this is the piece that fell off next 2 the filter
this is where it was supposed 2 go (i had 2 clean the outside cuz it got my counter dirty.. im not reusing htis filterobviously)
and this is where it was supposed 2 go
i dont know exactly where the metal piece ended up cuz when my car died i disconnected the piping right after teh bypas valve and than i started up 2 car (to check if my filter was jus clogged or the bypass valve had malfunctioned) and i heard it hit the ground after about a minute of idling... but the filter was still on tite so it had to have been in the upper intake pipe

it was probably resting up against your MAF grill.
I've seen similar problems with some aftermarket filters, but this is my first experience of this happening with a KORE filter.

I advised the members of our club against the use of this type of air filter last year...i must see at least 6 of them each year with a popped center cap...
The problem isn't the glue wich is holding the center cap,it's the paint,paint "unstick" from the cap and the cap falls in your intake piping
Newer ractive (and all other using the same style) are now using a chromed center cap wich seam to solve the problem
Now think about one minute...
if he had a MAP equiped car where would the cap end up?I'm sure it would have stuck itself in the TB while he was at WOT....

J@WS01 had this happened too.
However, he was jumping off the rev limiter alot at the time, so I guess it just backed up and pushed his off.
