Default Kia engines=mazda

i have recently emailed kia customer service and they told me that my engine is a mazda platform that kia has modified. Do you think the block and exhaust manifold would be the original as the mazda? i also asked them the max HP my auto trans can handle but told me that..that information they do not share with the public

"Modified" as in using cheaper materials, poorer tolerances.

I would recommend not using a Kia engine for any kind of build up. Parts are notoriously weak and aftermarket replacements are nearly non existant.

You would be better off just switching to a Mazda engine, the external dimensions and mounting points may even be exact.
