Ok guys so here is the problem: i own 2.0 liter model tibby, anyway i recently bought the K&N 57i induction kit for my car and it is no good. The thing is that my car lost it`s power and didnt gain anything. Everything is installed properly but it just dosent make any power just the sporty sound - I am especially angry by the fact that the engine is no longer responsive at the botom end and also i feel like i lost 30% of torque. I already contactd K&N but they are all confused about the facts.
How can I boost my performance with this kit; how can i make it work for me?I did not expect much HP improvement, but I certenly didn`t expect to get lower power. It is a SR type of intake how can I make it work? -Some say it`s the hot air from the engine, but i also get a lag when i nail the thottle from the botom rpm; something I didnt get before this install.

here is what i have:

What to do; please help evil.gif

I'd like to see a pic of your engine bay .

It sounds to me like you reversed your MAF.

sorry I have no pic; put I will describe; at the end of the stock hose that is attached to the box; I have put a KN "cone" filter that now sits right above the botom part of the filterbox (the upper part was removed of course).
Next a hose has been fited to the botom of the front bumper and is blowing air directly onto the KN filter.
You can see what I mean in this document:

http://www.kandn.com/instructions/57-0383.pdf

Also what do you mean by reversed MAF; how do I know which side is correct? Pics please

Thank you!

If the Slovenian spec Tibs are like the Oz spec, there is no MAF...

Get rid of the lower part of the factory air-box... It's probably slowing cooler air-flow from beneath the filter.

Also, try to route the filter itself to a lower point...say, beneath the battery like I did (for now anyway!)... I used PVC piping to get it right. No loss of power here!

Good luck man!

I actually do have MAF. And I will keep lower part of the box, since it also shields lower portion of filter from fan heat and provides a little extra cold air via old air piping. I am more considered about "correct position" of the sensor; is there a side which should be facing air travel or you just plug it into the filter and that is it?

There is an arrow imprinted on the MAF. It should be pointing towards the TB/Intake Manifold.

It is printed on the outside part of MAF (Plastic) - right?

So, was that the problem? I never knew K&N made a kit for our car, interesting.
