Default K&N Cleaning?

i've got a MHP cai with K&N cone at the end of it. I was told that you only have to clean it every 50k miles, but the local hyundai dealer(100miles from me) told me that you should clean it every 10k, nock all the junk off and re-seal it(or spray it). I kinda trust him, as he's also a performance fanatic(he has a rx-7, modded something fierce).

Any truth's to this? Random, show me the light! And if I have to reseal/clean whatever, how do I go about it?

Cleaning it is real easy go to pep boys ask for the k&n cleaner. Spray the cleaner on let it sit then rinse out the filter from the inside out that way the dirt and crap flush out. Real easy just read the instructions.
Every 10000 is good unless your in the desert with sand storms.

You should NOT oil a K&N filter within 10 minutes of cleaning it with water. You should let it dry 100%, preferably overnight, before oiling it.

Also...to much oil is worse that not enough. just spray on enough to tint the materal redish/pinkish. If the spray starts to run...you applied too much. You should let the filter sit for 20 mintues after applying the oiling medium before re-installing.

You can clean you K&N style filter every 1000 miles if you have a mind to, but every 50,000 is sufficent. The added dirt on the filter helps to trap MORE dirt.

Head to K&N's webpage to learn more. I would trust K&N before I would trust Hyundai mechanics when it comes to air filters...
