Installing an Autometer Tachometer with Shift Light
#1
Re: faster car
I just bought an Autometer 5 inch tachometer from a buddy of mine today. Tongiht we went to hook it up and it wouldn't work right, I ran it to the Coil wire in the motor, and the tach read half of what the stock gauge read. Any of u guys hook these up before, i read on the DIY about hooking up a Shift LIGHT..but not a tach..and i feel dumb because i dont even know how to get the dash off of my car.. any help would be apreciated..sometimes i feel like im workin in the dark and u guys are my flashlight haha...*hopefully that didnt sound rediculous* but alright, thanks again guys. tongue.gif 8)

Installing an Autometer Tachometer with Shift Light
stupid question.. those are universal tachs... was it set for a four cylinder?
Another thought, our cars use two coil packs.. firing two plugs each time, one in the chamber that is compressed and ready to go, the other a wasted spark

Re: What gas do you use and what miliage do you get with it?
The best bet is to hook it to the tach signal wire on the back of the instrument cluster. Search on shift light, it's the same exact setup.

Re: Hot Inzama System
Yup / Java's right, I did the same thing you just did. It has something to do with not having a distributor or something. (???) Anyway, follow that shift light DIY it should work just the same. A tach and shift light are similar because they both monitor the same thing, a tach just display's it.
To take your dash apart it's really easy. Just look for all the screws, take them out and the pieces should just pull right out. The actual dash is the toughest one to get off because of the a/c controls and all your buttons. Take a look at it and search/post back if you have trouble. Prolly take you about 40min tops.

Disconnect your batteries negative wire before removing your dash!
Just a word of warning, if you don't your Air Bag light may come on. It costs around $50 to get turned off.

Re: FS: Brand new 340cc BETA II injectors
while he already ran the wires from the engine compartment... the beauty of running them out of the dash from the cluster, less wires you have to run.
*edit*
Just something else I thought of... I remember getting badly shocked by reaching up under the dash on my spider while the car was running and accidently touching the lead wire from the distributer to the coil.. make sure all your connections are tight and insulated.
