welp i found my msd dis 2 HO(thats high output for you noobs) that i thought was stolen when they broke into the car a year ago



do i install it or sell it thats the question



goal is 400hp and the money could help in gettin there, some say the stock ignition should be fine, others say at that power frame it needs a upgrade

I had to gap the spark plugs down to .020 to run 9psi-put it in.

i say you probably wont need it.. but what else do you need to buy anyway? if you need to buy something more important, then sell it and buy w/e it is.. if you don't really need the money, misewell throw it in.

Depends on your power plans/mods. Are you boosted (turbo or nitrous)? If you plan on staying n/a then there is no point. The point of a MSD system, is:



The spark from your spark plus has to jump a gap, the higher the cylinder pressure, the more resistance there is going to be in this gap. A MSD system has the higher amperage required to overcome the added resistance. (this is super-dumbed down, no flaming lol)



So if you are N/A and are staying that way, then no



If you are, or will be boosted, then Yes.

No you wont need it, is it nice to have YES. 6 one hand or half dozen the other...its up to you. Personally I have not nor will I run an upgraded ignition system unless it is absolutely required.
